Exact Search:
This type of search is best when searching for a particular Case or Judge because it looks for the exact search term as entered by you in the text.
Usage: Select Exact then type the case number (i.e. 01-2345) or last name. Then click Go.

Natural Language Search:
This is the most open type of search. The terms entered are matched anywhere in the text.
Usage: Select Free-Form and enter the search terms. Then click Go.

Boolean Search:
This method allows you to group search terms and specify how the terms must appear in the text.
Available options are:

    AND: All search terms before and after this keyword must exist in the text.
    Usage: Select Complex and enter the search terms. Please enclose each search term in double quotes. Then click Go. (i.e. "district court" AND "appeal").

    OR: At least one of the search terms before or after this keyword must exist in the text.
    Usage: Select Complex and enter the search terms. Please enclose each search term in double quotes. Then click Go. (i.e. "district court" OR "appeal").

    NEAR: The search terms must be relatively close to one another in the text.
    Usage: Select Complex and enter the search terms. Please enclose each search term in double quotes. Then click Go. (i.e. "district court" NEAR "appeal").

    * (Wildcard): The search term is matched if it appears in the text followed by 0 or more characters.
    Usage: Select Complex and enter the search terms. Please enclose each search term in double quotes. Then click Go. (i.e. "district co*"). Please note that wildcards are only valid at the end of the search term.

Word Variation Search:
This method allows you to match multiple linguistic forms of a single search term. (i.e. "run" will matches text containing: run, running, or ran). Only a single term can be matched.
Usage: Select Complex then check Word Variations? and enter the search term surrounded by double-quotes. Then click Go.
